Variable-rate Retransmissions for Incremental Redundancy Hybrid ARQ
نویسندگان
چکیده
The throughput achievable in truncated Hybrid ARQ protocol (HARQ) using incremental redundancy (IR) in analyzed when transmitting over a block-fading channel whose state is unknown at the transmitter. We allow the transmission lengths to vary, optimize them efficiently via dynamic programming, and show that such a variable-rate HARQ-IR provides gains with respect to a fixedrate transmission in terms of increased throughput and decreased average number of transmissions, reducing at the same time the outage probability. Effect of Limited Number of Retransmissions of RCPT Hybrid ARQ for DS-CDMA Mobile Radio
Hybrid ARQ with Rate Compatible Punctured Turbo (RCPT) code achieves the highest throughput when minimum amount of redundancy bits is transmitted with each retransmission given that the allowable number of retransmissions is unlimited. However in a practical system, the number of retransmissions allowed is limited. In this paper we analyze the signal energy per information bit required for a gi...
متن کاملJoint Optimization of Hybrid ARQ Performance in Wireless Packet Data Systems
We propose an analytical framework that optimizes the performance of various Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) schemes in wireless packet data systems. The optimization framework lends itself to maximizing the user throughput while the redundancy size per retransmission, the packet error rate, and the mapping of signal to interference plus noise ratios (SINR) into modulation and coding sch...
متن کاملSequential decoding with an efficient incremental redundancy ARQ scheme
In this paper, sequential decoding is analyzed in conjunction with an efficient incremental redundancy ARQ scheme using punctured convolutional coding. With the incremental redundancy ARQ scheme, whenever the decoding time for a given data packet exceeds some predetermined value T max, decoding of that data packet is stopped and incremental redundancy bits are provided by the transmitter, a few...
متن کاملIncremental Redundancy Hybrid-ARQ with Rate Compatible LDPC Codes
Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) is well known link adaptation scheme which improves system throughput combining the error correcting codes and retransmission scheme. The incremental redundancy (IR) HARQ transmits parity bits incrementally when the retransmission is requested and normally provides higher throughput than the Chase combining by adaptive transmission in accordance with channel variations. In thi...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of Incremental Redundancy Hybrid ARQ Schemes with Parallel Concatenated LDPC codes*
The character of Parallel Concatenated LDPC codes with rate-compatible is analyzed. An Incremental redundancy hybrid ARQ scheme based on parallel concatenated LDPC codes is introduced. We studied the throughput of the new HARQ scheme and obtained the closed_form solutions. Furthermore, the throughput of the new HARQ scheme is simulated. It shows that for arbitrary block fading channel, comprisi...
